SOULS THAT BALANCE

This summer, SHAPED Creative is partnering with Duncan Ris Images to produce:

SOULS THAT BALANCE

Written and Directed by Theran Knighton-Fitt

A middle-aged man teeters on the razor’s edge of joy and pain when he discovers his young wife has a secret. Souls That Balance explores the power of the imagination in the intersection of human relationships.

Souls That Balance will be Knighton-Fitt's debut dramatic short, having previously created several visual poems, documentaries and promotional pieces as a professional videographer. This film will complete the director's MA in Theological Studies with a concentration on the Arts and builds on Knighton-Fitt’s previous academic work on the primary role of the imagination in what it means to be human.

Theran Knighton-Fitt

writer/director/producer

Theran Knighton-Fitt was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and is currently living and studying in Vancouver, Canada. His wife, Debbie, and their one-year-old son, Clayden, complete the family.

Theran is an interdisciplinary artist with a theological motivation for shaping creation into something new.

Trained as a clothing designer in 2000 and 2001, Theran has gradually added new media to his creative expression. Shortly after graduating he started an artisan clothing line called LateKnight while working full time as a musician, touring throughout Southern Africa and Europe.

From 2007 to 2010, he worked as a pastor. During this time Theran brought an aesthetic sensibility to his work in this vocational tradition. His first book, re:thingk, was published shortly before coming to Canada to further his education at Regent College.

Since 2010, Theran has been exploring film as a new medium with a specific interest in Narrative Shorts.

Duncan Ris

Trained at the Art Institute of Vancouver in 2003-2004 and working as freelance videographer since 2011, Souls That Balance marks a return to the Vancouver indie film scene that he grew up in 10 years ago.

With a mind expanding detour into theological education, Duncan brings a clearer and deeper vision to the artistic and creative passion of his youth.
